Taking a break...

I won't be adding anything to this blog for a while. I've been spending hours on the internet since the communist imposter took office, reading, researching and maintaining my website. I've quit updating the website too. I felt that words were not accomplishing anything positive, and all the negativity was tearing me up physically and mentally. My PTSD and depression are getting pretty strong, and even the VA advises that this would be a good time to 'off' myself.

So, I decided to pursue other interests. I've always been interested in the urban legend that you can learn how to build a nuclear bomb on the internet. I thought I might look into that to see if it's true.

Then I plan on one last trip to D.C. to say good bye to a lot of my friends on the Vietnam Wall and to read the Constitution at the National Archives if it's still there.

You Can See How Government-Run Healthcare Works RIGHT NOW!

This is for all of you, the town hall protesters that Nancy Pelosi calls Nazis, as well as all the (declining) members of the Kool-Aid Brigade.

I say declining members because just as when the Clinton’s tried ramming health care “reform” down our throats years ago, the more people learn of the details of this legislation, the people who support it grow less and less.

But I digress.

If you truly want to learn how well the government will run health care, you need to look no further than the Veterans Administration.

What Soviet Medicine Teaches Us

In 1918, the Soviet Union became the first country to promise universal "cradle-to-grave" healthcare coverage, to be accomplished through the complete socialization of medicine. The "right to health" became a "constitutional right" of Soviet citizens.

The proclaimed advantages of this system were that it would "reduce costs" and eliminate the "waste" that stemmed from "unnecessary duplication and parallelism" — i.e., competition.

These goals were similar to the ones declared by Mr. Obama and Ms. Pelosi — attractive and humane goals of universal coverage and low costs. What's not to like?

The Obama White House is abuzz with talk of witchcraft by first grandmother, 72-year-old Marian Robinson, who lives in the White House residence. A close friend of Michelle Obama says the president is furious at his mother-in-law after learning that she was practicing Santeria, an African spirit cult, in the White House.

Let’s talk about the doctors under Obama Care

The one thing that Obama supporters are not discussing is the making of a doctor. The good doctors we have come as the result of a grueling process. The best and the brightest, rather than leaving college and going off to make money, instead opt for the following:

1. Four more years of graduate training, including (a) the trauma of anatomy classes and (b) the exhaustion of clinical work, which is what they do in the last two years. The students pay to do this (or go into debt), with even the state funded medical schools costing about $40,0o0 — and that’s a minimum. Go to Harvard, and you’re out of pocket about $150,000 for this training.

2. An internship, which is one year of all work, on the one hand, and no sleep and almost no pay, on the other hand.

3. If your young doctor wants to be anything more than a prison doctor, after internship, s/he does a minimum two year residency, which is two more years of virtually unpaid time spent working, not sleeping.

4. If your young doctor wants to be anything more than an internist or family practitioner, then the additional residency years or fellowship years begin. Again, almost no pay and no sleep.

This means that the surgeon diving into your abdomen, or heart, or brain is someone who is (a) in the top two percent of our academic population and who (b) sacrificed up to 12 years of his/her life plus tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars for the privilege of making that cut — and doing it right, so that you don’t bleed out or die of an infection, and so that you have a minimal scar and maximum comfort.

If medicine is no longer remunerative, there is no incentive for good people to make these kinds of sacrifices. I’ll remind you that, in the former Soviet Union, medicine was a very devalued profession. It was harder work than most other jobs and, because it was essentially uncompensated, no one wanted to do it.

Bookworm's last paragraph predicts the future of medecine in the U.S. Med schools will no longer be filled with the "best and the brightest" they'll be filled with affirmative action admissions and those who chose not to enter more demanding professions. Medicine will follow the model of education in America. Two generations have now been taught by ill-trained, apathetic and incompetent teachers. Millions of Americans lack reasoning skills, are told what to think by network news anchors; have no sense of history or geography or it's significance on thir lives. They can not balance their own checkbook and don't understand the fuss about large amounts of money in Washington D.C.

In 20 - 30 years when the old generation of doctors retires and dies off, to be replaced by the obamadocs, it may become really hard to find a doctor you can trust your life to (unless you're over 65, then you're toast anyway). Maybe it's good that the Mexican border is being left open. They can sneak North to sell drugs, and we can sneak South to get Medical care.

Preparing for civil unrest

The most remarkable thing about civil unrest is that there hasn't been more of it.

Politicians are making a hash of this country—and much of the rest of the civilized world. We know it. They know it. They know we know it. But we don't feel we can do anything much to stop them.

That right there is the pre-condition for civil unrest—when people are frustrated and politicians are nervous.

Worse, that was how things stood before last fall's crash. Before pols on both left and right launched the biggest mass transfer of wealth in history—transferring our wealth (what we had left of it!) to their friends on Wall Street and in the banking industry. In other words, that's how things were before things got bad!

Citizen Informants

In 1930's Germany, the new socialist government of Adolf Hitler (NAZI National Socialist Workers' Party) began indoctrinating children in the quasi-military organization, the Hitler Youth, to inform on their parents should they overhear discussions subversive to the policies of the Leader. As the noose was tightened, local community organizers were appointed to watch their neighbors and were told to report subversive comments to the bureaucrats above them. Neighbors informed on neighbors, some for reasons of patriotism or loyalty, some from fear. A modern inquisition ensued; a terror to free thought and expression. Increasingly harsh penalties were meted out to those who dared to dissent.

It's how you play the game that counts.

I grew up with the Boston Red Sox. Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Tony Conigliaro, Fenway Park, the Citgo sign (Cities Service in my day), the "Green Monster". Mediocre seasons, great seasons culminating in heart-breaking chokes in September.

They were always modest in victory, graceful in defeat. Whever I heard the character building slogan "It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game that counts", I thought of the Red Sox. They had a few really good seasons. In 1967 they made it to the playoffs. A few weeks later I entered the Air Force and got busy with hot wars and cold wars for a while and lost track of the Red Sox.

I'd get home on leave to visit my family now and then. My brother-in-law is a sports fan and would update me on the Red Sox activities and chances.

Then in 2004 the Sox got hot. All of New England was cheering them on. This was going to be The Year! And the miracle happened, they didn't slump in September!, they burned through the playoffs, The Boston Red Sox Won The World Series!

This week two player were found to have taken steroids that season.

There is no joy in Mudville...

Is Wi-Fi Making You Sick?

Feeling dizzy, sick, and confused? You could be suffering from Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome, and just walking into a business that offers Wi-Fi could be making you feel sick! 

About two percent of the population is supersensitive to the electromagnetic fields produced by Wi-Fi, although some reports put figures as high as five percent. Unfortunately for those who are affected by electromagnetic waves, more hotels, airports, bars, and coffee shops are adding wireless Internet every day, making shopping, going out for a drink, or taking a vacation more difficult. 

Even though electromagnetic signals aren’t new—in fact, cell phones and televisions emit them—the wi-fi electromagnetic waves are higher in frequency and stronger due to the immense amount of information they carry. Symptoms can also include headaches, fatigue, depression, sleep disturbances, irritability, panic attacks, arthritic-like pain, heart palpitations, memory problems, and rashes. 

The electromagnetic fields, or EMF’s, can also have effects on neurological tissues, and experts fear they could contribute to Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. 

Although there’s no cure for the problem, a handheld electromagnetic meter can alert victims when they are entering an area with Wi-Fi.

There you go! All these years people thought I was just being a butt, and they didn't know that those symptoms didn't show up until my parents bought their first TV in 1950.

I need to get one of those electromagnetic meters, and some tinfoil for my hat.

obama's birth certificate and other documents.

I'm getting really tired of all the arguing over whether wonder-boy was born in Hawaii or not. He probably was. Give it a rest. The point is that he did not meet the Constitutional requirement to be a "natural born American citizen". His father (if he was his father) gave him British citizenship. His whore mother was too young to convey any kind of citizenship to him.

My guess on why he's spent over a million dollars, so far, to hide the birth certificate is that it does not name barack obama senior as the father, or the father is not named at all (unknown) - a little embarrassing for a POTUS.

As for the other documents, the passport showing indonesian citizenship, the school records showing indonesian citizenship and muslim scholarships. They might have cost him a few votes too, right?

I suggest that we all log on to www.whitehouse.gov and send his highness a note of humble apology for doubting that he was born in Hawaii. Tell him that we are now true believers in his birth certificate, and now can we just take a little peek at the freaking thing and the other documents too. Otherwise it's going to cost him so much to keep it all hidden that he'll have to start taxing illegal immigrants or something.

Go Ask John Galt

--A woman in a hot-air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to him, "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am." 

The man consulted his portable GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air balloon, approximately 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet above sea level. You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100 degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude.

"She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be a Republican."

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?" 

"Well," answered the balloonist, "everything you told me is technically correct. But I have no idea what to do with your information, and I'm still lost. Frankly, you've not been much help to me." 

The man smiled and responded, "You must be an Obama Democrat."

"I am," replied the balloonist. "How did you know?" 

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are or where you are going.. You've risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault."

'Scofflaw' Obama Grudge Against Cambridge Police?

One reason Barack Obama may think the Cambridge Police Department is "stupid" is that he has a grudge against the law enforcement agency. 

Obama, who attended Harvard Law School from 1988 to 1991, lived in Cambridge, and apparently didn't like the fact he was frequently hit with parking tickets. 

In all Obama received 17 tickets for parking violations -- and never paid 15 of them until he was exposed by a local Massachusetts newspaper as a scofflaw. 

According to a 2007 Associated Press story, Obama was a parking ticket deadbeat for more than a decade -- and only felt the need to pay the 15 outstanding parking tickets as his presidential campaign began in earnest in 2007. 


Here is the Associated Press story detailing Obama's negligence: 

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama got more than an education when he attended Harvard Law School in the late 1980s. He also got a healthy stack of parking tickets, most of which he never paid. 

The Illinois Senator shelled out $375 in January – two weeks before he officially launched his presidential campaign – to finally pay for 15 outstanding parking tickets and their associated late fees. 

The story was first reported Wednesday by The Somerville News. 

Obama received 17 parking tickets in Cambridge between 1988 and 1991, mostly for parking in a bus stop, parking without a resident permit and failing to pay the meter, records from the Cambridge Traffic, Parking and Transportation office show. 

He incurred $140 in fines and $260 in late fees in Cambridge in all, but he paid $25 for two of the tickets in February 1990. 

Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, dismissed the tickets as not relevant. 

"He didn't owe that much and what he did owe, he paid," Psaki said on Wednesday. "Many people have parking tickets and late fees. All the parking tickets and late fees were paid in full."

So, obama is simply "above" certain laws that the rest of us have to follow. They are not relevant to him. I wonder how many laws are beneath him, where does he draw the line? He has no respect for the U. S. Constitution, I don't think he feels bound by the Ten Commandments.  Maybe he observes the laws of physics. He seems to follow the law of gravity.  But wouldn't it be a wondrous sight if, like a klein bottle, he were to crawl up his own asshole and disappear into the space-time continuum, just a sour belch in human history?

In Defense of the Cambridge Cops

(That's right, I'm not quoting or stealing this article, I'm writing it myself.)

I grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts. My parents taught me that the policemen were my friends. I was fairly well behaved, so that turned out to be true. A neighbor cop sponsored me into the VFW when I came home from my first tour in Vietnam. I knew a lot of Cambridge cops, Dad still listens to them on the scanner. There are some very good men and a few slackers maybe, but I don't know of any bad cops. They wouldn't tolerate that in their ranks.

Cambridge has a very diverse population. The two biggest schools, MIT and Harvard, account for a lot of the population. MIT is mainly made up of Asian students. They have the self-discipline to study the hard sciences and become the engineers who are going to build and own the future. (Americans are mostly flipping burgers to support their drug habit, or if they go to college, they study sociology or they study law so they can sue each other and run for political office. But, that's a whole other story for another day.)

The other big school in Cambridge is Harvard. It used to be prestigious and you needed to have 1600 on the SATs and a recommendation from George Washington to get in. Then back in the 1960s, Harvard decided that diversity was more important. Third world nations send their riff-raff there because it's easier than exiling them. The other cities in Greater Boston refer to Cambridge as "the People's Republic". Harvard is sort of like a communist incubator where radical professors shape the minds of future communist leaders from all over the world and send them back out into society.

You've read the story about Dr. Gates (who holds the WEB DuBois chair at Harvard, named for a guy who was a black communist like obama back before obama was cool, except DuBois was a lot smarter and accomplished a lot of stuff). Gates was beating on his stuck front door so hard that the neighbors thought he was a burglar and called the police. When the police (one of them was black) arrived, Gates put on an attitude and initially refused to show ID and hollered racial discrimination and civil rights and the usual crap. He finally identified himself, and as the officers were leaving, he followed them outside, continuing the verbal harangue, at which point they arrested him for being an asshole and took him to jail.

Sergeant Crowley, the white police officer taking all the crap from the leftists over this incident, is a veteran police officer with three brothers who are also police officers. They grew up in an integrated neighborhood, were educated by the integrated Cambridge school system, and three of them work for the integrated Cambridge Police Department. They have close black friends and brother officers. Sergeant Crowley is NOT a racist. 16 years ago when black Celtics star Reggie Lewis collapsed and died at the Brandeis University gym, Sergeant Crowley was the officer who desperately tried to revive him by CPR.

Dr. Gates needs to shut up and count his blessings. If a "bad cop" had responded to the burglar call and taken the verbal abuse that Gates was dishing out, it's entirely possible that Gates would have found himself on the floor, deceased, beside a "throwdown" gun with his fingerprints on it.

I don't have a PhD, but somebody once told me "Don't piss-off an armed man" - common sense.

John Barry; made WD-40 into fixture of handyman

SAN DIEGO - John Barry, the unpretentious Midwesterner who made a California product called WD-40 into a national sensation by “breaking all the Harvard Business School rules,’’ died July 3 at a skilled nursing facility here of pulmonary fibrosis. He was 84.

Mr. Barry’s business genius during three decades at the company was in emphasizing brand loyalty for a lubricant that fights rust and eliminates squeaks. He preached the value of staying focused on your product and your market and not being distracted.

“He had a saying: ‘Don’t be like a blind dog in a meat house,’ ’’ said Garry O. Ridge, WD-40 Co.’s current president and chief executive.

As WD-40, in its blue-and-yellow spray can, began to become more popular in the early 1970s, Mr. Barry, as president and chief executive, led the drive to take the company public. But he resisted advice from business gurus that said a one-product company was a bad investment.

He declined suggestions that WD-40 expand to other products, engage in slick advertising, or partner with large retailers.

In later years he liked to show visitors his “graveyard of imitators,’’ products developed by larger companies that failed to break into the market. He said he owed his company’s success to breaking all the rules about mergers and acquisitions and shelf-space in stores. “When you have a good product, don’t tinker with it,’’ Mr. Barry said.

He avoided corporate trappings. He answered his own phone; on airplane flights, he traveled coach; he held business meetings at Denny’s restaurants. He insisted that subordinates address him informally.

“Dad was a meat-and-potatoes guy,’’ said his son Randy, who works in the operations supply part of WD-40.

A native of Minneapolis, John S. Barry served as a supply officer in the Navy and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in mechanical engineering and from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a master’s in business and engineering administration.

Happy Anniversary Teddy

It was 40 years ago last night that Teddy made his big splash at Chappaquiddick and wandered around for the rest of the night in a drunken stupor while Mary Jo Kopechne clung to life in an air pocket in the overturned, submerged automobile. Some reports say that she finally suffocated in the morning about an hour before her body was found.

Imagine how different the nation would be today without 40 years of Teddy in the Senate. What if Massachusetts had real laws and treated all criminals equally, without regard to wealth and power?

US demand for handguns driving world gun trade

GENEVA—American demand for handguns has fueled a 28 percent jump this decade in world exports of pistols, rifles, shotguns and other small arms, a global report said Thursday. 

The 2009 Small Arms Survey reported that the Untied States alone was responsible for about half of the worldwide increase in legal international gun sales between 2000 and 2006. The U.S. now accounts for over half of the world's imports of pistols and revolvers and 45 percent of shotguns, it said. 

"No other country imports more than 4 percent of the global total," the 344-page report found. 

It illustrated how U.S. purchases of hand guns—which averaged $173 million annually—have driven a sharp rise in exports from a number of countries. 

Austria remained the world's largest seller of pistols and revolvers with a 25 percent jump since 2000. Seventy-five percent of its exports go to the United States. Croatian exports soared almost 24 times in value since the start of the decade. The U.S. accounted for 98 percent of its 2006 sales of $27 million. 

Gunmakers in Brazil and Italy also have been helped by booming American demand for small arms. 

"A country can become a major global player just by developing an export market in the United States," the report said. 

The report, published by Geneva's Graduate Institute, uses customs data and other information supplied by 53 nations. It estimated legal trade in firearms at nearly $1.6 billion in 
2006, with the actual value of all small arms, light weapons, parts, accessories and ammunition exceeding $4 billion. 

"Current data shows that the global trade in small arms and light weapons is robust and even expanding, and handguns are driving it," said Keith Krause, the survey's director. "We don't know whether these weapons are destined for civilians, police or military forces."...

 

Well, I'll just bet it's that Second Amendment thingee and all those civilians exercising their rights. I AM surprised that the numbers were up so high back in 2006. Wait until they analyze the data for 2008/2009. It will go off the scale.

I'm a firm believer in gun control. It's the skill to keep all your shots in the '10' ring.

Cicero speaks to the big 'O'

The Roman statesman Marcus Tullius Cicero, whose orations were familiar to high school students back when Latin and other real subjects were taught, before the days of social promotions and self-esteem, lived from 106BC to 43BC. Thus he never met Barack Husein Obama, the big 'O'.

Cicero lived at the height of the Roman age. The decline and fall came 500 years later, so it is doubtful that Cicero met anyone remotely like Obama or any of our contemporary politicians, yet somehow this quote by Cicero about the big 'O' survives:

"O, wretched man, wretched not just because of what you are, but also because you do not know how wretched you are!"

Uncanny. Let's see Nostradamus top that!

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

National Park Service Problem

In addition to the nation's large and well known national parks such as Yosemite, Yellowstone and Grand Canyon, the NPS also maintains several smaller sites: presidential birthplaces. These include the birth sites of Washington and Lincoln, both Roosevelts, both Adamses, Kennedy, etc. They're in the process of taking over the site of Clinton's birth.

The problem facing the NPS is that they are required to take custodial ownership of any property they maintain for the people of the United States. However, their charter also limits their operations to the United States and its territories.

Therefore, the National Park Service cannot legally operate and maintain the Barack Obama birthplace in Mombassa, Kenya.

Hypothetical Situation

So, Barack is hosting a party at the White House for a couple hundred of his closest comrades, and they're all chowing down on that $100 per pound beef they like. Over at the Congress they're about to pass Cap and Trade, and Nationalized Healthcare is next on the docket. The Supreme Court is debating whether illegal immigration is illegal and is dodging lawyers who are trying to have Barack's eligibility for office investigated.

Suddenly, a nuclear device planted by Al Qaeda goes off on the national mall and Washington DC becomes a large radioactive crater. Not one single member of the federal government survives.

Question: do we hunt down the responsible leaders of Al Qaeda and take retribution on them or do we give them the Gold Medal of Freedom?

An Endangered America

"My God! How little do my countrymen know what precious blessings they are in possession of, and which no other people on earth enjoy!” said Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence and our third President. As usual, he was right. 


Present day Americans take for granted the story of the American Revolution, but few consider what a fearful undertaking that was when the Declaration was published on July 4, 1776. 



Thirteen colonies of the greatest power on Earth at that time, Great Britain, determined to establish a free and independent nation. 



With some notable exceptions, we are mostly ignorant of the signers of that document and I would be willing to guess that few Americans realize how long the war for our independence lasted. 



It began with a local militia engagement with the British in Lexington, Massachusetts in 1775. It would end eight years later in 1783 at Yorktown, Virginia. Estimates are that 25,000 Americans gave their lives over the course of the war; some 8,000 in battle and the rest by disease or as prisoners of war. 



Eight years is a long time and it is generally conceded that the tenaciousness and will of one man led to victory. His name was George Washington. 



“Those who won our independence believed liberty to be the secret of happiness and courage to be the secret of liberty,” said Louis D. Brandeis, a Supreme Court Justice. 



What followed the Revolution were the Articles of Confederation that proved a dismal failure. On May 25, 1787, in great secrecy, a group of delegates from seven States, gathered to revise them. Eventually twelve of the thirteen States were represented. 



The Constitution they devised was intended to ensure the process of passing legislation was a slow, laborious one, and that the federal government would have only a few, clearly enumerated powers, with all others reserved to the States and the People. 



The men who wrote the Constitution feared both the mob and the concentration of too much power in the federal government. The States were and are independent, sovereign republics. 



The U.S. Constitution officially became the law of the land when New Hampshire ratified it on June 21, 1788, being the ninth State to do so. The vote was 57 Yeas, 47 Nays. 



The poet, Archibald MacLeish, said it best. “There are those, I know, who will say that the liberation of humanity, the freedom of man and mind, is nothing but a dream. They are right. It is the American dream.” 



The American dream is now the dream of billions around the world. It inspires hope everywhere. It draws to our shores those who want to live and thrive in freedom. 



We are a nation in grave danger of being deprived of everything so many Americans worked, fought, and sometimes died to maintain. 



We are being betrayed by a political and economic socialist theory that is the antithesis of the American system of governance. It killed millions in the last century. 



We are being governed by fear as one “crisis” or another is announced and we are being governed by too many men and women in Congress who have heedlessly plunged the nation into unimaginable debt and propose to burden present and future generations with destructive taxation. 



The limits on energy in the name of a non-existent global warming that the Congress is enacting are limits on America’s ability to compete in a world where other nations are using energy, not banning it. 



America in 2009 must be reclaimed in the name of all those who came before us and in the name of generations to come. So long as we have the right to make our voices heard, we must demand an end to the plundering of the public treasury, an end to public ownership of private enterprises, and an end to the effort to control our lives through the takeover of the nation’s healthcare system. 



July 4th is a good day to demand that President Barack Hussein Obama—born in Mombassa, Kenya, raised in Indonesia, and leaving no paper trail in America—resign before he does further harm to all Americans, to the American dream, and to the hope of freedom in the hearts of men and women everywhere in the world.

Imagine waiting for a year to have cancer surgery while the malignancy spreads – and then be told, "Sorry. You waited too long. Go home and die.” It happens in Britain and Canada because they have socialized medicine. 

Now imagine a federal bureaucrat possessing the power to choose your doctor, tell doctors what treatments they can prescribe and which tests they can run. They decide at what age you are no longer eligible to undergo dialysis or receive an organ transplant or a CAT scan, even treatments as simple as antibiotics.

Are you ready for a law that forbids you from consulting a private physician for better treatment or to get a second opinion -- even if you’re willing to pay for the service yourself?

Officials: President Obama reconsidering July 4 invitations to Iran

WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Obama administration is seriously considering not extending invitations to Iranian diplomats for July 4 celebrations overseas, senior administration officials tell CNN.

The officials said intense discussions on the issue were taking place, but the final decision had not been made. 

Late last month the State Department sent a cable to its embassies and consulates worldwide informing them they "may invite representatives from the government of Iran" to their July 4th celebrations. 

The U.S. receptions marking Independence Day usually feature symbols of Americana, such as hot dogs, red-white-and-blue decorations and remarks by U.S. officials about America's founding fathers. 

The Obama administration had decided to invite Iranians to the celebrations at overseas posts as part of President Obama's policy of engaging the Iranian regime. 


As part of that engagement Obama videotaped a message for the Iranian people on the Persian New year and U.S. officials have engaged members of the Iranian government. 

In March Richard Holbrooke, the Obama administration's Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan spoke briefly with Iran's deputy foreign minister, Mohammad Mehdi Akhondzadeh, at an Afghanistan conference in The Hague. 

But officials said the violence against protesters that has ensued since the June 12 election has caused the administration to rethink the timing of such engagement. 

One senior administration official said Wednesday the reconsideration of the July 4th invitations is consistent with Obama's comments Tuesday, in which he said he was "shocked and appalled" at the violence against demonstrators. 

"The president said yesterday how this plays out will affect what we do," the official said. 

Obama said Tuesday, "If Iran chooses a path that abides by international norms and principles, then we are interested in healing some of the wounds of 30 years in terms of U.S.-Iranian relations." 

But he sidestepped questions on whether the offer to attend the celebrations still stand. 

"That's a choice the Iranians are going to have to make," he said.

Did Obama Just Commit A War Crime? 

Bombing the funerals of your opponents is a red line in most conflicts. The Israelis don't bomb Hamas or Hizbullah funerals, and vice versa. George Bush refused to bomb Taliban funerals. Al-Qaeda, however, has no such compunctions, as it repeatedly has sent suicide bombers to attack people attending the funerals of relatives killed in prior al-Qaeda attacks.

That is why I was surprised to see a report at Bill Roggio's The Long War Journal that U.S. Predator drones attacked a funeral procession for a Taliban leader killed in a prior U.S. attack:


The US carried out its second Predator airstrike inside South Waziristan today. Unmanned Predator aircraft killed more than 65 Taliban fighters in a follow-on attack near the headquarters for Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud.

The Predator strike aircraft fired three Hellfire missiles as Taliban fighters gathered for a funeral of Khog Wali, a leader in Baitullah's army in South Waziristan who was among six Taliban fighters killed in the first US airstrike earlier today. 
I'm not sure if attacking a funeral is a "war crime." It may depend on whether civilians were killed along with Taliban fighters. Killing civilians as part of a military attack is the justification used for war crimes investigations of Israel in Spain.

Such a high profile and almost unprecedented attack must have been approved at the highest levels, including by Barack Obama himself.

As I predicted long ago, the willingness of many in the U.S. to outsource war crimes investigations of Bush administration officials for the interrogation policies would come back to haunt the Obama administration. In time, Obama may be asking the next President for protection against those who seek political retribution for tough decisions taken in time of war.

Senator, you interrupted the general to scold him for referring to you as “ma’am,” and asked him to address you as “Senator” since, by your own explanation, you had worked hard to attain that title.

You Can't Go Home Again.

(Apologies to Thomas Wolfe). I spent last week in Cambridge, Massachusetts, my birthplace, visiting family. I left Massachusetts in 1967 when I joined the Air Force and have been all over the world since then and call Texas home now, only going back to Cambridge for a visit now and then. A lot has changed back home in forty two years.

One doesn't walk the streets or use public transportation after dark anymore. Apparently the underprivileged are roaming the streets soliciting volunteers to redistribute their wealth.

The Archdiocese of Boston has sold off a lot of churches, schools and property to pay the legal judgements won by victims of pedophile priests. Among the properties gone are our local parish church and elementary school. My mother, my sister and I all attended that school. My mother has attended that church all her life. The seminary where I spent my first two years of college is now a veterinary hospital. The Seminary where I got my bachelor's degree was recently sold to Boston College for expansion space. Some of my seminary classmates are convicted pedophiles. I guess I won't be attending any class reunions. I'm probably lucky I escaped with my virtue intact.

The Boston Globe was running an investigative journalism piece last week. They had discovered the frightening details about the miltary giving "scary-looking black rifles" to various Police Departments in Massachusetts. POLICE HAVE ASSAULT WEAPONS! I came away with the impression that the reporter felt that any time the police had a disagreement with a citizen (or a non-citizen guest of the USA) they should consult a third party arbitrator to resolve their differences in a mutually acceptable conclusion. Meanwhile, the police should lead the parade of everyone turning in their guns to be melted down and cast into pretty sculptures.

Some things haven't changed in Massachusetts. It's still one of the most expensive places to live in the US. Taxes are high. Politicians are corrupt at all levels. It's very democratic - every second auto has an obama bumper sticker on it. (Or maybe that's because the state doesn't issue handicapped license plates.)

Wait, they did change one thing: the Charles River. When I was a kid, if you fell in, the only treatment was euthanasia. They have actually stopped all the upstream factory and municipal runoff into the river to the point that the substance that flows between Cambridge and Boston is true chemical water.

As you are no doubt aware, America the Great is quickly becoming America the Gray. The so-called "boomer" generation, comprised of approximately 40 million Americans, will soon reach retirement age. 

As they age, America's boomers yearn for a less frantic pace---and a lifestyle that allows one to pause and smell the roses now and again. 

In other words, boomers are looking for the "Good Life" which is supposed to accrue to those who work 45 years, pay ungodly amounts in taxes, raise a family, put children through college, and baby-sit the grandchildren. 

Unfortunately, the United States is no longer as hospitable as it once was to graying citizens, especially now that our economy has collapsed.

As a result, boomers have decided to move to your beloved Mexico.

Obama's Senior Moment

WASHINGTON -- If you have any sense that you may be getting sick in the years ahead, I suggest you get sick immediately. If you will be in need of surgery or any other medical procedure, do it now! If not immediately, be certain that you hand yourself over to the healthcare professionals before October 15 of this year. That is the date on which President Barack Obama hopes to sign his healthcare bill once it has gone through the congressional baloney grinder.

This advice from R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. at The American Spectator is especially appropriate if you are an older person like me. We who no longer have sizeable incomes, even though we still pay taxes on our pensions and social security or savings, are a burden on society. We disproportionately use medical services. We built and defended the nation that we have today but now we cost more than we're worth, and they're going to have to downsize us.

Mediocrity. It's the new Excellence.

I've always been sort of a perfectionist. I was in Air Force Intelligence for 26 years. If I screwed up, my pilots could get killed on their mission by something I overlooked or told them wrong. Later, I worked as a computer programmer/analyst in a large company where bad code or slowness in fixing a midnight crash could cost thousands of dollars in penalties to my employer.

I strive for accuracy and excellence in everything I do, and I come close most of the time, but being human, I make the now and then error, and feel very bad about it until I've done everything I can to make it right.

I've been with the same auto insurance company for 41 years. My wife, the MP, (Hooah!) has been with them 31 years. Along the way we added on home insurance, life insurance, banking, credit card, investments, brokerage. They're now deeply involved in our financial life.

18 months ago my wife took out a car loan with them and asked that the payments be deducted from her checking account on a certain day of the month, just after her payday when there would be plenty of cash to cover the payment. They said fine and then set it for a bad date. The payment bounced and they notified us that all 3 credit bureaus had been informed of our bad debt.

I have had a spotless credit rating my entire life, and I was so enraged by this that I fired off an irate letter to the Chairman/CEO of the company demanding that he fix the situation right now. To his credit, he did get it all fixed right away, and even credited a payment to my wife's loan. But, that was STRIKE ONE for this company.

In April 2009, home mortgage rates bottomed out and I decided to refinance. I first tried my current lender, but their closing costs were too high. Just for the heck of it I called my insurance company/bank. They had decent closing costs and a good interest rate, so after checking some others, I called them back, locked a 4.75% rate and gave them $450 earnest money. Closing was to be Jun 8th.

Well, they ordered a title search, flood plain certificate, appraisal, and requested us to provide pay stubs and all the usual financial documents. The company's web site listed the lady to send the stuff too, with her phone and fax numbers. Only problem was the lady had a different last name, a different phone number and a different fax number from what was listed. That made for communications difficulties.

My wife finally tracked her down and faxed all our papers to her. Then we waited in the dark for a while. The only time we talked was when we initiated the call or email. We didn't close on the 8th, she mumbled something about underwriting and rescheduled us for the 11th. We didn't close on the 11th, I heard something about the title, but we're the original owners of the house and the website shows the title search complete.

Rescheduled closing for  the 12th and a notary public actually showed up with the closing documents. But the numbers on them were all wrong. The payoff balance on the old mortgage was about $1500 high, the earnest money was stated as $350 instead of the $450 I gave them, etc. I declined to sign any of the papers (after exposing the notary public to some adjectives and adverbs that he may never have heard before).

I immediately sat down and composed an incendiary letter to the chairman and CEO of the company (different guy than last time)  explaining the situation to him and what he was going to have to do to make me happy again. I express-mailed that to him, supposedly faster than Fedex over the weekend. He needs to work quick to get that mortgage closed before it expires, because I've got a lawyer waiting in the wings to sue for breach of contract or whatever the appropriate legal action is.

Meanwhile, this was STRIKE TWO for this company, and I don't give no stinkin strike three. I've picked out an insurance company that is higher rated, and I'm a member of a local credit union that can handle my banking. I'm planning to leave my credit card with the company because I pay it off each month rather than carry a balance, and that costs them money.

Mediocrity - ya want fries with that?

Obama has appointed 21 "Czars."

These Czars are "Political Officers." In the old Soviet Union, they were called Commissars.

The Executive Branch of government is organized hierarchically, top-down, by Departments (Treasury, Defense, etc.). Each department functions under the direction of an executive, referred to as a "Secretary," who is confirmed by the Senate.

The appointments of these "Czars" changes the fundamental structure of the Executive Branch into a "matrix" structure. The czars have political power across all of the departments within the Executive Branch.

They speak for Obama and their function is to ensure compliance with Obama's policies within the Executive Branch.

The American People don't know who most of these Czars are. They've had no background checks. There is no Congressional oversight over the Czars, unlike a Cabinet position. They are appointed by Obama and are extraordinarily powerful, simply because they take their direction from and report directly to Obama.

We don't know how much money they make. We don't know how many tax-payer dollars they oversee. We don't know how much power they wield.

Where are the checks and balances?

Make him an offer he can't refuse.

Some strange and potentially suspicious events tonight concerning the Obama White House and the AmeriCorps program. I've been told that on Wednesday night the AmeriCorps inspector general, Gerald Walpin, received a call from the White House counsel's office telling him that he had one hour to either resign or be fired. The White House did not cite a reason. "The answer that was given was that it's just time to move on," one Senate source told me tonight. "The president would like to have someone else in that position."

Inspectors General are part of every federal department. They are given the responsibility of independently investigating allegations of waste, fraud, and corruption in the government, without fear of interference by political appointees or the White House. Last year Congress passed the Inspectors General Reform Act, which added new protections for IGs, including a measure requiring the president to give Congress 30 days prior notice before dismissing an IG. The president must also give Congress an explanation of why the action is needed. Then-Sen. Barack Obama was one of the co-sponsors of the Act.

Time To Demand Obama's Resignation

"In case of the removal of the President from office, or of his death, resignation, or inability to discharge the powers and duties of said office, the same shall devolve on the Vice President, and the Congress may by law provide for the case of removal...” 
-- (Article Two, U.S. Constitution) 


Since the President takes an oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”, a President who acts contrary to the Constitution or is found guilty of breaking the law should be subject to removal. 


Constitutionally, removal can be secured by “impeachment for, conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

Miranda Rights for Terrorists

When 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad was captured on March 1, 2003, he was not cooperative. “I’ll talk to you guys after I get to New York and see my lawyer,” he said, according to former CIA Director George Tenet.

Of course, KSM did not get a lawyer until months later, after his interrogation was completed, and Tenet says that the information the CIA obtained from him disrupted plots and saved lives. “I believe none of these successes would have happened if we had had to treat KSM like a white-collar criminal – read him his Miranda rights and get him a lawyer who surely would have insisted that his client simply shut up,” Tenet wrote in his memoirs. 

If Tenet is right, it’s a good thing KSM was captured before Barack Obama became president. For, the Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan, according a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee.

The "You Scare Me" Letter

Mr. Lou Pritchett, is a former Vice President of Proctor & Gamble, who spent 36 years at the company before retiring in 1989, and is the author of the 1995 business book: Stop Paddling and Rock the Boat.

Unaccountable Commission May Run Healthcare

One of the Blogs I follow and read every day, Le'gal In'sur'rec'tion, warns us today, 06/04/09 that:

Three card monte is a scam in which the sucker is led to believe he is following the winning card, when in fact the skillful dealer has distracted the sucker into following the wrong card. The sucker never wins.

Right now, everyone's focus is on Obama's "historic" speech to the Muslim world in Cairo. But the real action came in a letter Obama sent to the Senate proposing to empower the 17-member Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) with the same level of power over the health care system as the Base Realignment and Closure Commission had over the closing of military bases:

EMP

This morning I put together a page on my website www.anddomestic.com about what Iran or North Korea or some Jihadi buying a nuke and a rocket from them could do by sailing a tramp steamer into the Gulf of Mexico and popping an airburst somewhere above Kansas.

One nuke airburst of the right power at the right altitude will fry every electronic circuit in the country.

Levi's come out of the closet (my closet)

As a dedicated, alleged, suspected right-wing extremist, I have a long list of websites and blogs that I visit every day to get my news and inspiration. Their common theme is taking our country back from the marxist thugs and corrupt politicians currently in power, most of them advocate doing so by peaceful means. 

Sometimes they mention other news items, which was how I found this reference to Levi's. Now, I've been wearing blue jeans since I was a kid in the 1950s. Back then we called them dungarees. I've worn jeans in Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Australia, Germany, France, Belgium, England and Ireland. I've worn jeans in 2/3 of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. As Johnny Cash would have said: "I've worn jeans everywhere, man!"

As an adopted Texan, I find that there's no place that I go that a clean pair of jeans and a nice shirt is not acceptable attire. If it takes more than that, I don't go there. I do have a suit in the back of the closet for emergencies, - like if they need to bury me.

I've always favored Wranglers or Walmart jeans for some reason. Maybe because I wore Wranglers when I was a kid, and now that I'm older, my thrifty Scottish blood favors the Walmart prices. I probably have owned some Levi's along the line though. 

After reading this article, (click on my title above to read it), I'm going to weed through my closet and if I find any Levi's, they're going in the trash; and my wife is getting instructions to never bring any Levi's home, not even if they're on sale AND she has a coupon.

Thumbs Down - Lousy Plot

I've been reading a book lately that really sucks. It's a suspense/thriller, and normally I love that genre, but I may not even finish this one, I don't think the ending is going to be very satisfactory anyway.

It started out with the unlikely scenario of an anti-American corrupt politician being elected president and appointing all his cohorts to positions of power in the government. He has control of the congress and will soon have control of the supreme court. There's nothing subtle about his character, he's an obvious badguy with no redeeming good qualities, just like one of James Bond's old adversaries.

The guy has alienated all of our allies and emboldened all of our potential enemies. At the point where I stopped reading, North Korea was threatening to start a nuclear war, Iran was threatening to wipe our former ally, Israel, off the map, the government has taken over the auto companies and the banks, and Mexico has invaded the Southern states.

The worst part was that the hero who was going to save us from all of these multiple catastrophies has not even been introduced yet. Half way through the book, simultaneous unlikely calamities happening, and no hero has appeared. This book is very unrealistic, the plot sucks, and the author is hopeless. I will not read any more of his books.

Kim Jong Il didn't get the message.

Hillary Clinton is in deep doo-doo. While Obama was apologizing all over Europe and the Middle East, she was supposed to be doing the same duty in Asia, but she missed the stop in North Korea where she was supposed to grovel before Kim Jong Il and beg his forgiveness for our actions in the Korean conflict of 1950 - 53.

Kim is so pissed-off about the snub that he has been buiding and blowing up nuclear devices, and firing off missiles like bottle rockets. He has repudiated the 1953 cease-fire which ended the conflict that never really ended, and has threatened to attack any U.S. or S. Korean Naval or merchant ships found in a west coastal area where the boundary is disputed.

Kim probably can't hit the U.S. with one of his nukes yet (unless he sticks it in a shipping container on a freighter). But he could easily strike our allies, S. Korea and Japan, both of which have a large U.S. military population. Would Obama throw them all under the bus? - Well, he might send a strongly worded memo to the United Nations Security Council demanding that North Korea be censured for its actions. And he might threaten to stop sending them foreign aid if they ever nuke anyone again.

Should have made that apology trip, Hillary. Then Kim would see that we're a strong, resolute nation and he wouldn't dare act hostile.

In Praise Of Nuclear Weapons

May 21, 2009: Nuclear weapons have only been used twice in war, but their continued existence has created a new dynamic between the major military powers. This nuclear standoff came to be known as "mutually assured destruction" (MAD) during the Cold War. As a result of MAD, there has not been a war between the Great Powers in Europe since the surrender of Nazi Germany on May 8, 1945, a peace that has lasted over 60 years. This is the longest period of major-power peace in Europe since before the fall of Rome 1500 years ago. The second-longest such period of peace among the European Great Powers was 43 years between the armistice that ended the Franco-Prussian War, signed on January 31, 1871, to the Austro-Hungarian declaration of war on Serbia, on July 28, 1914, which signaled the outbreak of the First World War two days later, a total of forty-three years, five months, and twenty-eight days. In effect, since November 5, 1988, every day that the European Great Powers have not been at war with each other has set a new European regional --and pretty much a world-- record for the duration of a peace. 


Proposals to get rid of nuclear weapons not only threaten to upset this peacekeeping mechanism, but ignore the fact nukes are seen by more vulnerable nations as the cheapest, and most certain, way to guarantee their survival against threats from more powerful neighbors. Give a nation a choice between guaranteeing their safety with an international treaty, or some nukes, and which option will most choose?

Moreover, you can't eliminate nukes unless you eliminate the knowledge of how to produce nuclear weapons. That cannot be done, because the basic principles of nuclear weapons construction have proliferated beyond the power of anyone to destroy that knowledge. With that knowledge, any industrialized nation can quickly build nuclear weapons.

And then there are the unintended consequences. If you were to succeed in creating an international treaty that really eliminated all nukes, that would provide more incentive to create more powerful chemical and biological weapons. What many people don't want to admit is that the genie is out of the bottle, and you can't put it back. 

Since no one has died from nuclear weapons in over 60 years, and you want to eliminate a weapon of mass destruction that has killed lots of people, why not go after the private automobile (which has killed millions since 1945). What have private automobiles done for peace? Nuclear power also produces power with far less pollution, and hardly any fatalities, compared to coal, gas or oil fueled plants. Despite its virtues, all things nuclear have been demonized for several generations. So it's apparently true that good deed don't go unpunished.

Where is Pelosi?

Today is day 5 with no sightings of, or statements from, Nancy Pelosi. While much of the public is enjoying the refreshing break, others are worried about the significance of her absence.

Is she "sleeping with the fishes" in the Chicago River? Is she sequestered in an undisclosed secure location (Joe Biden's basement)?

Foul play has not been ruled out, but the prime suspect, the CIA, has presented a valid alibi.

The statement above is from the military code of conduct and has been repeated by every veteran since President Eisenhower installed it into our culture.

A month ago, bloggers like Pat Dollard and others like This Ain't Hell have remarked at the partisan nature of veteran organizations. Many of you have express frustration with the current set that attempt to represent veteran issues but seem to have ulterior motives - painting veterans as victims is an easy way to raise money and get media attention.

But what does that do the public's perception of us?

You all know the answer to that.

And you all know how BlackFive was started. I never wanted to be in this position. I was angry that my friends' sacrifices were going un-noticed and just had to do something, anything. If you can't pick up a rifle, then, then I feel you must do something to help.

On Memorial Day, six years ago, my friend gave his life to save a convoy of soldiers and two journalists. It is fitting that, this week before Memorial Day, we are talking about protecting his legacy.

A few months ago, I was talking with David Bellavia about this very issue. We talked about how the administration tried to make veterans pay for their own health care, how the DHS memos painted all veterans as right wing extremists and potential terrorists, and how there was no one, aside from the American Legion, really working to defend veterans.

So, a few of us decided to start our own foundation - non-partisan - to work with both sides of the aisle to solve veterans issues. We decided that we need to include every generation, every branch of service, in order to stand firm, back to back, and defend our family.

The Warrior Legacy Foundation is born.  

And our tag-line is something that has been sworn to by every veteran since 1955. We thought that the end of the Military Code of Conduct best described what we were and what we were to do..."I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free.”

I had 2 full-year tours in Southeast Asia. When I came home, no one spit on me or called me a drug-crazed baby killer, but no one ever said thank you either. I felt I had done something important, and no one cared. I got over it. In recent years a few people have seen my "retired" ID card or my "disabled vet" license plates and thanked me for my service, and I've just mumbled something quietly in reply. - It's so strange to be thanked. I didn't do any of it to get anyone's thanks. I did it for me and for my military family.

I think the Warrior Legacy Foundation is an excellent idea. I joined last night and will make a contribution today. No other organization is doing what the Warrior Legacy Foundation intends to do: to present veterans as America's warrior class, the defenders of freedom. They are not the broken down detritus of our wars, they are the winners of the wars that our politicians lost.

New Intelligence Source

This morning I received an email from Barack Obama informing me of the progress that was being made in the House of Representatives on his new healthcare plan. Apparently, I am signed up to receive bulletins on healthcare matters from his highness.

I figure the way I became signed up was when I sent him an email a few months ago suggesting a candidate for surgeon general in his administration: Doctor Jack Kevorkian. A good choice, no?

If I had told Barack where to put his stimulus plan, would I now be getting economic bulletins or proctology reports?

My wife pointed out that if I didn't want mail from Obama, I could just hit the unsubscribe button at the bottom of the bulletin. I told her No way, I now have an intel source inside the enemy headquarters. A high percent of the data will be disinformation, but maybe, just maybe, they'll let Biden near the computer... and then I own them.

Enemy of the State

I was born in the U.S.A. I have an official raised seal birth certificate to prove it. I attended old-fashioned Catholic elementary and high schools in the 1950s and early 60s. They didn't worry about my self esteem but they did give me an excellent education and taught me strong moral values. From 1963-67 I studied for the Catholic priesthood. I left the seminary with a bachelor's degree and joined the U. S. Air Force. I was commissioned and swore an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

In 1968 a near-fatal accident ended my pilot training. I was to receive a medical discharge but fought the action and was allowed to stay on duty and retrain in a different career. After learning my new skill, I volunteered for duty in Vietnam. I remained on active duty with the Air Force for ten years, which included two full years in the war and other places, doing what needed to be done. In 1977 I left active duty and entered the Air Force Reserve to continue my career on a part-time basis. I retired in 1994.

Between 1975 and 1979 I received a 2nd bachelor's degree and an MBA and began a civilian career. I took an early retirement offer from that company in 1999. Chronic pain from the 1968 accident was gaining on me.

 

 

So how did I become an enemy of the state? 

 

Because all during the Cold-War I believed Marxist-Socialists were the enemy.

Because I think we should execute violent criminals and not babies.

Because I think the government should not be micro-managing healthcare, business or banks.

Because I think that illegal immigration is illegal.

Because I think that businesses that are run badly have the right to fail. They have no right to my money.

Because I think that people who run up debts they can not pay have the right to fail. They have no right to my money.

Because I think people who make money through corruption and influence peddling should go to jail.

Because I think that people who make money by honest skill and talent should not have to give it to slackers.

Because I think the 1st Amendment says Limbaugh, Coulter, Beck, etc are free to speak and to be heard.

Because I think the 2nd Amendment says that I have the right to protect my family if 911 response is slow.

Because I think the UN is an obsolete, corrupt, evil organization.

Because I think "global warming" is pseudo-science which has been discredited.

Because I think freedom isn't free. Generations of veterans have paid for it. Many paid the ultimate price.

Because I think the left is trying to smear the veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, just as they smeared us Vietnam veterans as drug-crazed baby-killers. Those who accused us were Obama's mentors.

Because the first words of the Constitution are "We the people", not "We the federal government".

 

 

Note to the Department of Homeland Security:

I do not hate Janet Napolitano. I wish her well in her battle with "Mad Cow" Disease.

I do not hate Barack Obama. I would not piss on him if he were on fire.

From time to time, I'll get fired up and write my own table thumping analysis of the way things are and the way they  ought to be.

 I can't help it. You see, when I washed out of pilot training, I became an intelligence officer. I'm the guy who kept the commander and the aircrews advised of the badguys' locations, capabilities, intentions, etc to minimize the damage they could do to us and to maximize the destruction we could inflict on them.

We all hope that violence and weapons are not needed in the conflict to save our country. I think we are going to depend on strong willed voters who are smart enough to entrust the country to a new breed of lawful, principled leaders. I'm being awfully idealistic in that thought. We haven't demonstrated recently that we have smart voters or clean politicians. But it could happen?
