Thumbs Down - Lousy Plot

I've been reading a book lately that really sucks. It's a suspense/thriller, and normally I love that genre, but I may not even finish this one, I don't think the ending is going to be very satisfactory anyway.

It started out with the unlikely scenario of an anti-American corrupt politician being elected president and appointing all his cohorts to positions of power in the government. He has control of the congress and will soon have control of the supreme court. There's nothing subtle about his character, he's an obvious badguy with no redeeming good qualities, just like one of James Bond's old adversaries.

The guy has alienated all of our allies and emboldened all of our potential enemies. At the point where I stopped reading, North Korea was threatening to start a nuclear war, Iran was threatening to wipe our former ally, Israel, off the map, the government has taken over the auto companies and the banks, and Mexico has invaded the Southern states.

The worst part was that the hero who was going to save us from all of these multiple catastrophies has not even been introduced yet. Half way through the book, simultaneous unlikely calamities happening, and no hero has appeared. This book is very unrealistic, the plot sucks, and the author is hopeless. I will not read any more of his books.
